The Wizard of Oz Film Experience

The 75 minute experience is an exciting blend of film and technology where the classic 1939 MGM film is taken to a new height by using the very latest technology, including 16K wrap around displays that cover 160,000 sq. ft. of floor, the purest audio delivered by 167,000 speakers, scenes generated by AI, haptic in the seats, wind, fog, scents and fire effects. 

Songs from the legendary Rainbow hit, to “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” and the very iconic “If I Only Had a Brain” will be reworked skillfully to bring back emotions and memories of the classic songs that audiences love so much. The newly re-recorded score for the Sphere production of The Wizard of Oz will be of the highest quality and guaranteed to deliver a strong sense of a legacy of classic songs and will be released as The Soundtrack to The Wizard of Oz Film Experience.

The 1939 film The Wizard of Oz won two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and for the song “Over The Rainbow” from the film. This show is a pioneering effort for Sphere, marking the first 4D experience of this magnitude. It combines the viewer’s memories of the classic with the most current technology to bring it to life in a truly immersive way. 

Sphere Information

255 Sands Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada, next to the Venetian Resort. This is the permanent home of The Wizard of Oz – Film Experience as part of Sphere’s inaugural programming and the first 4D performance of its kind at this scale in the world. The space is huge with enormous LED screens and ground breaking Sphere hypnotic Sound system with 167,000 programmable speakers.

The seats will be haptic enabled, approximately 10,000 in total. The arena will hold 17,600 to 18,600 guests and there will be good views from all areas of the space. There will be accessible seating, alternative seating and sensory rooms on levels 2 and 6.

There will be food and drink available throughout the space including freshly made to order pizza, gourmet burgers, fresh made to order salads, hot, fresh cut fries, specialty cocktails, wine and beer. The food and drink will be of a premium nature and prices reflective of the Sphere experience. Specialty cocktails, wine and beer are also offered. Keep in mind that prices for the food and drink will be on the higher side but well worth it for the experience. Internet is high speed and available in each seat.

Parking Information

Onsite parking for Sphere is limited, but guests can reserve their parking spot through the Sphere App or Ticketmaster for a fee. For additional parking options, there are garages at The Venetian/Palazzo Resort, as well as other parking lots throughout The Strip. Designated pick up and drop off locations for Rideshare are at Manhattan Street and Westchester Drive. A pedestrian bridge connects The Venetian Resort to Sphere for guests to walk between the two venues.
